Queens’s first financial literacy fair attracted nearly 250 people on August 11. The all-day fair, sponsored by The Literacy Assistance and UBS Financial Services, was held at the Flushing branch of the Queens Borough Public Library. Parents participated in a variety of workshops on financial issues while their children joined in educational activities. Scholastic, Inc., donated children’s books that were distributed free of charge. The Bookbinders Guild of New York donated dictionaries and other adult books, which were also distributed free.
Local papers, Channel 1, and WNBC all did stories on the event. For the WNBC coverage, go to Channel Four News
