New York City RAEN

The Literacy Assistance Center was awarded the contract in support of the New York City Regional Adult Education Network (NYC RAEN). This award falls under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Title II from New York State Education Department (NYSED) Adult Career and Continuing Education Services (ACCES). The contract spans five years beginning July 2009 and concluding June 2014.

New York City is one of seven RAENs providing technical assistance and professional development to adult literacy, occupational, and continuing education programs funded by the NYS Education Department.

The goals of the RAEN are to improve the quality of state-funded adult and family literacy programs and to assist programs in meeting or exceeding statewide benchmarks of the National Reporting System (NRS). To these ends, the NYC RAEN is charged with the planning and implementation of high quality, research-based professional development delivered throughout the five boroughs.

The RAEN serves as the primary liaison between the 51 local programs
and NYSED ACCES while monitoring these programs as they progress toward state and national education targets.
