Topics the LAC covers in its professional development and coaching work include Academic Intervention, Career Readiness, Differentiated Instruction, Family Literacy, Grant writing, ESOL programs, Instructional leadership, Literacy theory, Multiple Intelligence Theory, Program design and assessment, Project-based learning, Reading, Scaffolding, Student-centered learning, Strategic literacy across the curriculum, and Writing.
The LAC five-session Fundamentals of High School Literacy series includes:
- Strategic Literacy across the Curriculum
- Reading for Meaning
- Differentiated Instruction
- Components of Reading Instruction
- Technology to Extend Learning
Our highly trained specialists translate theory into practice. They introduce new ideas and skills and then make sure that every participating administrator, coach, counselor, and teacher gets hands-on experience in implementing them.
The LAC currently holds multi-year system-wide requirements contracts with the NYC Department of Education to provide Academic Intervention Services, Family Literacy services, and Technical Assistance for Multiple Pathways to Graduation.
