We are going to read reviews of the book we are reading in class and when we are finished with the book, we will write and post our own reviews.

Part I

Reading Other Readers' Reviews

  1. Double-click on the "Netscape" icon.
  2. Click in the white box next to the word "Location:". Note that the text becomes highlighted in blue.
  3. Type: www.amazon.com
  4. Then press the key.
  5. You will get a screen similar to the one below. You are now at the biggest virtual bookstore. Find the part of the screen that says Search. Click on the arrow next to all products and select Books.
  6. Type in Bread Givers and click on Go.
  7. You will see a page with links to details about various editions of the book. Click on the first link.
  8. Scroll down the page till you see reviews. Read the professional review and then read some of the customer reviews. Choose one that you agree with and one that you disagree with. Write down the writer's opinion and explain your reaction to it. How many readers reacted positively to the book? How many reacted negatively?

Part II

Writing Your Own Review

  1. Now that we have finished reading the book and you have read other people's opinions about it, you are ready to write your own review. We will do it right on Amazon.com.
  2. Scroll down the page with reviews until you see "I have read this book, and want to review it." Click on review.
  3. Now, you should have a template for you to fill out. First give the book as many starts as you think it deserves. Remember, the more starts the better you think the book is. Then write in you one line summery and your review. When you are finished, click on preview your review.

Your review will be posted on Amazon.com in about a week. We will come to check it and read your reviews on line. When it's up, you will be able to tell your friends and family to check out your work on the Internet!
