Job description:
Seeking a proactive, dynamic, and patient Computer Lab Instructor to work ON-SITE providing individualized instruction in essential digital tools and basic computer literacy. The instructor’s role focuses on creating a supportive, self-paced environment to teach introductory computer fundamentals to adult learners at varying levels of skill and experience. Emphasis will be on helping students develop vital digital skills, master basic computer operations and common software applications, and learn fundamental digital communication tools. In this role, you will:
- Teach foundational Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Provide training on educational platforms and virtual meeting tools such as Zoom and Canvas.
- Teach essential email skills: Setting up MyTEF (1199 LMS) and email accounts; Composing and sending emails; Downloading and saving attachments; Attaching and sending files; Internet navigation
- Support individuals seeking help with scanning and uploading documents
- Maintain a calm, encouraging environment that builds student confidence
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in discipline applicable to education/teaching; MA/MS Degree preferred.
- Proven experience in education or teaching, with a focus on computer skills
- Must possess Microsoft Office Suite Certification
- Must be able to multi-task and have strong communications skills.
- Experience or familiarity with Canvas and North Star
- Bilingual Spanish required (ability to translate curriculum materials into Spanish when necessary)
- Must have experience teaching remotely (i.e., Zoom, Teams, and/or Google Classroom)
Technology Requirements:
- Utilizing Email, Messaging Apps, and Online Document sharing tools to facilitate communication with students.
- Familiarity with educational platforms and software applications organizing courses, sharing materials, and managing student coursework.
- Strong computer literacy. Instructors must be comfortable using computers for various tasks.
- Ability to integrate multimedia into lessons.
- Knowledge in using digital assessments and online quizzes to track student progress.
- Adaptability to new technologies.
- Promote positive digital etiquette and digital citizenship
- Awareness of cybersecurity threats and an understanding of online safety practices.
- Remote instruction and student facing interactions; Instructor will conduct on camera.
