Location: Brooklyn College, 2900 Bedford Ave
Hours: Part-time 2 days a week 9AM-12PM
Salary Range: $44/hour
Brooklyn College Adult Literacy Program provides cost- free ESOL, High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) preparation, and pre-HSE/GED services. Students enter the program with various goals, from learning English to earning the credentials necessary for access to gainful employment or higher education. Our Instructional model is focused on collaborative learning with the goal of creating shared knowledge to achieve learning goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide ESOL instruction to adults
- Create and implement communicative & student-centered lessons
- Pre-test and post-test students using Best Plus 3.0
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Track and maintain accurate attendance records
- Attend 14 hours of professional development
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of teaching experience in an adult education setting
- Bachelor's degree in TESOL or Applied Linguistics preferred
- Bilingual Skills: English and a second language (Russian, Spanish or French preferred)
- Strong computer skills, proficient in Google docs, sheets, classroom, and Zoom
- Experience with curriculum development and lesson planning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful
