ESOL P/T Instructors
The Lehman Adult Learning Center seeks dynamic ESOL teachers for part-time employment starting in January /February 2026.
Hours: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Hybrid Schedule: Monday (in person) and Wednesday (remote via Zoom)
Location: Literacy Zone partner school MS 244
Address: The New School for Leadership and the Arts, 120 W 231st St, Bronx, NY 10463
Language Level: Beginners (NRS Level 1: Beginning ESL Literacy & NRS Level 2: Low Beginning ESL)
Pay Rate: $37 / hour

Duties include:

• Provide ESOL instruction to adults.
• Create and implement student-centered lessons with a thematic focus.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Assess students’ work and provide feedback on an ongoing basis.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Participate in program-wide events and activities.
• Attend Professional Development workshops as required.
• Administer BEST Plus 3.0 test, and participate in registration and orientation.
• Work collaboratively with all ESOL teachers to share curriculum ideas, lesson plans, and classroom management strategies.

Core Competencies/Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates must have prior experience teaching in Adult ESOL classrooms, both in person and on

• Bachelor's degree and ESOL teaching certification preferred.
• Must be creative, proactive, organized, and committed to learner-centered, participatory education.
