Description: Provide adult students comprehensive instruction in Science and Social Studies. Deliver comprehensive lessons in high school level Science (Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science) and Social Studies topics (Civics, Government, U.S. History, Economics, and Geography). Focus on teaching students how to interpret passages, charts, and graphs, as well as how to analyze and synthesize information rather than just memorizing facts, as these skills are part of the critical thinking necessary for both the Science and Social Studies portions of the GED test.
Requirements: College degree in subject-area(s) or Liberal Arts is mandatory. Candidate should have 5+ years of instructional experience working with adults and/or high school level academic skills and content and must demonstrate knowledge and experience teaching online via Zoom, using its various advanced features. A strong knowledge of GED test across all subject areas is expected; mastery in subject area(s) is mandatory. Experience as an Adult Education instructor is expected, and candidate MUST have proficient skills in MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as proficiency in internet navigation and research. Candidate must possess demonstrated ability in using an LMS and preferably be skilled in using and instructing students in the use of Canvas. Technological competence is imperative in assisting adult learners to prepare for college and career readiness and is expected of the candidate. Awareness of cybersecurity threats and an understanding of online safety practices is a necessity.
