Part-Time GED Instructor
The Office of Continuing and Professional Studies at The City College of New York seeks a Part-Time GED Instructor for its WIOA grant-funded Adult Education Program. We serve a diverse student population and are committed to providing quality instruction that prepares students for academic and career success.
The candidate should have a solid knowledge of the current GED exam/curriculum and can create an energetic and interactive classroom environment that offers multiple opportunities for active learning to the students.
GED Subjects: Reading, Writing, Science, and Social Studies
Start Date: September 16, 2025
Dates: September 16, 2025-December 4, 2025 (Fall 2025-Contract/Temporary). Possibility to continue contract to spring 2026 semester
Schedule: In person
Time: 10 am – 1 pm
Day: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Salary: $ 44.00/hour

Responsibilities include:
- The instructor should perform these duties in a way that exhibits cultural sensitivity and attention to individual students' needs.
- Delivering engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with the CUNY Framework and Career kit into the curricula
- Administering TABE assessments (certification required or willingness to obtain).
- Creating and adapting materials to support in-person learning.
- Monitoring student progress, attendance, and assessments; providing feedback and support.
- Ensure that the classroom and school's atmosphere are conducive to maximum learning and retention of students.
- Ability to communicate effectively with culturally and intellectually diverse students and create an engaging learning environment for students.
- Participating in professional development (14 hours per semester) and staff meetings.
- Meeting administrative deadlines and collaborating with program leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required).
- Minimum 1 year teaching experience in Adult Education.
- Strong communication skills with culturally diverse learners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Google Classroom, and Zoom.
