Workforce Development Adult Education Instructor F/T

CAMBA's comprehensive Workforce Development  provide low income community members with employment, education, training, benefits access, financial literacy and English language services.
Duties and Responsibilities:  (1) research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans; and, (2) instruct adults in academic and/or nonacademic subjects in order to develop and/or enhance their employment skills.
  • Provide classroom instruction (i.e. Understanding the American Workplace or Vocational Skills etc.)
  • Communicate with CAMBA career advisors, case managers, job developers, counselors, etc. regarding apparent barriers to client success
  • Assist clients to write and/or enhance their resume.
  • Refer clients to other CAMBA services to assist clients in eliminating barriers to success.
  • Assist client with employment interviews ​
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree and one year of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience​
  • Teaching style must be hands-on, interactive, and participatory (not lecture based).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with immigrant, refugee and asylee populations.
  • Bilingual or multilingual is a plus

READ 718 is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization providing individualized literacy instruction to low-income students in grades 3-8 who are reading below grade level. The Director/Founder and Associate Director oversee lesson planning and provide direct guidance to 35 volunteer tutors, who work one-on-one with students twice a week after school hours.

The part-time Program Coordinator will work with the Associate Director to help ensure the efficient and thoughtful delivery of lesson plans. They will take part in conducting reading assessments with new students, designing lesson plans to meet student’s needs, and oversee the implementation of lessons in consultation with volunteers. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will organize instructional materials, and manage READ 718’s weekend program for students in grades 1-3.
Candidates must have a degree in Education and background in the field of literacy development.
