Full-Time Case Manager for COJO Flatbush Adult Education Program
COJO Flatbush is hiring a full-time Case Manager to support students enrolled in our Adult Education 
Programs, which include GED-Prep and Computer Classes. The Case Manager plays a key role in guiding 
clients through challenges, developing actionable plans, and connecting them with essential resources 
to ensure their long-term success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive case management services which includes but not limited to, intake assessments, setting goals, and developing action plans for COJO Students.
  • Offer education and career counseling to assist students in identifying pathways to reach personal, educational, and professional goals.
  • Facilitate coordination with external service providers, government agencies, and community organizations to build a strong support system for participants.
  • Maintain and update participant records, ensuring accurate documentation in DYCD Connect to track interactions and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular follow-up meetings with participants to monitor progress and adjust goals as needed.
  • Lead workshops and group sessions focused on education, career development, and family support resources.

Qualifications:
  • Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, with experience in City systems (public assistance, child welfare, education, and housing); OR
  • Associate’s degree, completion of Family Development Training (or other DYCD-recognized credentials), and experience in City systems; OR
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in case management or counseling, with knowledge of City systems.
Compensation:

Intake Advisor F/T

Adult Learning Center Intake Advisor (Wakefield Library)
Overview
Adult English Language and Literacy (AELL) is the direct service provider of ESOL and adult literacy instruction for the Library.  Professional teachers facilitate free instruction to adult patrons in reading, writing, speaking, and listening from a 0 to 8th-grade level in both in-person and online classes. Instruction is offered in 3, 10-week cycles and 1, 4-week summer cycle. The Intake Advisors recruit new students, determine eligibility through testing and interview, and  monitor attendance, and student retention.  Intake Advisors follow up with students to identify barriers to participation and encourage continuation in the program. 

Responsibilities 
  • Provide case management services to students including running information sessions, organizing the intake appointment process including assessment (Best Plus and TABE), NRS goal setting, and placement in a class, or referral to an outside agency; monitor student progress, daily follow up with students who have an attendance problem to encourage continuation in the program 
  • Input data for students into the agency database in a timely manner, which includes client personal contact information, assessment results, attendance, and educational and employment outcomes.
  • Test all students at the end of each cycle
  • Maintain paper record files for each student as per NYSED requirements
  • Conduct outreach
  • Connect adult students with needed and available community resources. Follow-up with clients and agencies as appropriate to document use/success of referral.
  • Provide workshops on using technology, orientations to library services, etc.

Required Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, English, literacy, or a related field
  • Certification in Best Plus and TABE (attainment of certification required within the first 3 months of employment)

Required Experience
  • 1 year of experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Experience using databases (data entry and management)
  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social services for high needs populations. (literacy and language needs)

Required Skills
  • Experience in data entry and utilization of various databases

HSE Instructor F/T

Kingsborough Community College is seeking a dedicated and committed HSE instructor to work with students 17.5 – 20 years of age, who dropped out of school before graduating, without having achieved the high school diploma.

​The instructor will be required to have NYS grades 7-12 certification in at least one of the four core content areas (English Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, or Math), in order to be eligible to teach the program.

The position is full-time (five hours daily, 25 hours per week), beginning with the FA24 session (Sept 16 - Dec 12), and future semesters contingent upon student enrollment. Classes meet regularly in person, Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm.

New Americans Initiative Coordinator F/T

New Americans Initiative Coordinator (F/T; $20.00 - $26.00 Hourly)

The YMCA of Greater NY is seeking two (2) New Americans Initiative Coordinators for the Flatbush YMCA and the Harlem YMCA. The NAI Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the New Americans Initiative with the strategy, implementation, fidelity, and quality of the New Americans Initiative programs and services.

Programmatic:
  • Provide ongoing support and trauma-informed case management services to participants and community members including providing and documenting social service referrals and outcomes, as per program standards and funder expectations.
  • Understand, articulate, and support participants with issues related to program eligibility and ensure participants understand and adhere to program philosophy, standards, rules, and regulations.
  • Support recruitment, registration, authentic assessment, and orientation for new students. In partnership with the NAI Director, ensuring consistent community outreach, retention, and recruitment within local communities.
  • Provide outstanding hospitality to all participants, members, and guests. Outstanding hospitality is acting as a proactive agent - initiating a professional relationship with the participants regarding their needs, concerns, and questions, and acting as an agent to accommodate the participant’s needs/concerns.
  • Assist with the management of programs to maximize participant satisfaction, revenue, and compliance with the YMCA and funder standards.
  • Provide participants with opportunities that will increase their involvement, sense of belonging, and ownership of the YMCA and their growth and development.
  • Maintain internal case files and support the NAI Data Manager, ensuring timely data entry into government and internal databases or any other database assigned to the Initiative, including but not limited to intake, goals, and outcomes, pre and post-testing, attendance, case notes and ensuring that supporting documentation is complete.
  • Maintain up-to-date referral network and linkage agreements, and ensure that workshop instructors deliver contextualized, community-driven workshops that integrate technology, family, health, immigration, legal, and financial literacy.
  • Assist with reporting to government and private funders, tracking and reporting student data and achievement results, and coordinating the operational aspects of the New Americans Initiative.

Supervisory:
  • Assist in the recruiting, scheduling, supervising, and evaluations of program staff, volunteers, and interns displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication, and being clear about roles and relationships.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Model the best practices of hospitality and positive culture.
  • This position supports all aspects of programming, including but not limited to community outreach, recruitment, and participant outreach.
  • Work enthusiastically as part of a team.
  • Actively participate in professional development, designated meetings, and special events, as appropriate and requested.

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, mental health, or a relevant field is required. Or equivalent work experience.

​General Description
The Borough of Manhattan Community College seeks an experienced and resourceful Program Director for the BMCC Adult Basic Education Programs. The Program Director will work closely with the Education Director and the BMCC educational leadership team to continue the BMCC tradition as one the most progressive and innovative literacy programs in New York City. 

The Director will be centrally responsible for developing and managing the programs’ fiscal resources including grant proposals and reports. Adult Basic Education Programs include Adult Basic Education (ABE), High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE), and three Literacy Zones.

​The BMCC Adult Education Programs serve over 1000 students and community members annually. The Director is responsible to ensure accountability in all areas of the program and to meet the requirements as detailed in funding award contracts.

Other Duties
  • Provide leadership and implement strategic planning that support collaboration and continuous improvement to achieve instructional excellence, innovation, and professional development
  • Develop grant-funded and private-sector proposals to maintain programs and expand instructional and case-management services
  • Develop and manage multiple budgets over varying grant contract timelines
  • Work with the College’s Office of Sponsored Programs and Grants and the Research Foundation of The City University of New York to ensure budget and reporting requirements are met and are in compliance with each grant contract’s requirements
  • Remain up-to-date on the regulations, rules, budgets, reporting and compliance requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
  • Oversee data systems, ensuring all participants are accurately documented and in compliance with grant contracts
  • Submit interim and final report to all required entities
  • Network with public and private entities to maintain established partnerships and develop new programming opportunities
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with the New York City literacy community, New York State Education Department Division of Adult Education Programs & Policy, NYC Regional Adult Education Network, and community-based organizations
  • Oversee program accountability for ASISTS and the National Reporting System for Adult Education data collection and analysis of performance
  • Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position and as assigned.

Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of progressive educational leadership and managerial experience at the program manager or assistant director level preferred
  • Successful grant writing and program development experience
  • Prior experience in recruiting, developing, supervising, managing, and evaluating personnel
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete them within tight deadlines
  • Prior experience working in an urban, culturally sensitive adult literacy program serving students from diverse backgrounds
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and time management skills
  • Knowledgeable about current trends in adult learning pedagogy, including ESL methodology, theme-based and contextualized instruction, and project-based learning
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and develop strategies, goals, and procedures
  • Knowledge of current workforce trends related to education and training options
  • Proven ability to get results within a team environment and to develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization.

​Workforce Project Manager- FT

The International Center of Catholic Charities Community Services provides educational programming for newly arrived immigrants and refugees with the goal of improving learners’ English proficiency and communication skills. The Center’s Workforce Project Manager will build and develop the department’s new Bridge to Healthcare Program. This program will provide access to ESOL training, funding, support, and job placement assistance for students preparing to work as Home Health Aides (HHA). The position includes program design, coordination and implementation of services, supervision of program staff, and oversight of their work. Responsibilities include:

Develop and manage workforce programming: identify and address community needs; conduct outreach to potential employers and potential participants, make presentations, develop curricula and resources for programs; coordinate quarterly meetings for staff.

Supervise program staff, including an employment specialist, a case manager/supportive services coordinator, and an ESOL instructor, to ensure timely and comprehensive training and employment services provided to students using a strengths-based approach.

Manage and support student participants: conduct participant intake, assess language proficiency, identify goals, connect with additional CCCS services; provide ongoing support to promote learning, engagement, and retention; advocate for students’ employment-based rights and work with employers to resolve issues; work one-on-one with participants as needed.

Monitoring and evaluation: assess and monitor student progress to ensure achievement of departmental and programmatic goals. Track/analyze attendance, learner feedback, instructor feedback, community surveys/needs assessments, MSC/qualitative narrative evaluation. Compile monthly statistics and reports, including reports to funders and other internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related or relevant field; or 3+ years of related experience in the field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience with immigrant populations.
  • Experience working with adult learners.
  • Previous experience working with diverse, vulnerable populations.
  • Experience with community outreach.

The New Americans Bridge Program is an innovative partnership between Fifth Avenue Committee's (FAC) adult education program and FAC’s workforce development affiliate, Brooklyn Workforce Innovation’s (BWI), Red Hook on the Road (RHOR) and Brooklyn Networks sector-based workforce training programs. This passionate team of instructors and administrators is dedicated to helping foreign born residents of New York City train for and find employment as bus drivers and low voltage cable installers. 
 
Duties:
  • Create innovative outreach strategy to identify and connect eligible foreign born New York City residents to bridge and workforce training as a CDL Class B bus driver or a low-voltage cable installation technician.
  • Execute that outreach in an organized manner tracking and reporting success of different strategies.
  • Oversee 1- 2 program assistants to aid in executing outreach strategy.
  • Oversee social media and online communications that relate to Bridge Programming.
  • Manage incoming inquiries and connect potential participants with appropriate intake staff.
  • Maintain electronic databases tracking participant enrollment and persistence and general program information.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed. 

Qualifications:
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English (professional written and spoken competency)
  • High School Diploma or HSE required; BA preferred
  • 3 years of experience in Workforce Development or Adult Education
  • 2 years of experience supervising staff
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing successful outreach strategies in similar setting with similar target populations

The Program Manager will support the University Director in the mandatory collection and submission of program data, analysis of data to ensure program effectiveness, oversight of program activities, and management of a large and complex budget, in the facilitation of a successful program for adult literacy students at the University.  They will help the University Director prepare and coordinate proposals for program funding, interface with campus directors, and develop program outreach efforts and new initiatives.  The main worksite is the CUNY Central Office, and the Program Manager will be required to travel to various CUNY campus sites if needed.

Program Data Management Specialist

The Adult Learning Center (ALC) provides English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Basic Education (BE) and High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation to adult learners in downtown Brooklyn and offsite locations.

Reporting to the Director and Assistant Director of Education Programs, the Data Manager is responsible for managing the Adult Student Information System and Technical Support database (ASISTS), which is used by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) to monitor and evaluate grant funded adult education programs. In addition, the data manager provides administrative and instructional support necessary to the effective operation of the ALC.

Responsibilities:
  • Competently utilize the program’s ASISTS enrollment management system, ensuring timely entering and managing of data that properly aligns with reporting needs
  • Prepare attendance reports and general enrollment information for data analysis
  • Follow-up with program participants to secure critical information, including outcomes data
  • Coordinate, conduct and assist with in-person intake, registration, testing, placement, and related enrollment tasks
  • Liaise with and provide administrative assistance to instructors and staff
  • Collaborate on the development of flyers, forms, surveys, and spreadsheets
  • Complete 14 hours of RAEN approved trainings and workshops annually
  • Additional responsibilities on an ad hoc basis, as assigned

Qualifications:
  • College credits or degree preferred
  • Competent in the use of technology and MS Office applications
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in working with personal and confidential records, including adhering to FERPA and other policies
  • Teaching experience or a general understanding of Adult Education with a genuine desire to work with the adult literacy community
  • Familiarity with social media to help promote program class offerings and services
  • Well organized, able to prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible, creative, resourceful, work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work evenings hours on a consistent basis

Salary: $44,000 - $48,000 per annum
