Location: Brooklyn College 2900 Bedford Ave
Status/Hours: Part-time, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9-12 pm,
Salary Range: $41/hr
This position would be taking over a class midway through the term, mostly likely with a November start.
Brooklyn College Adult Literacy Program provides cost- free ESOL, High School Equivalency (HSE/GED) preparation, and pre-HSE/GED services. Students enter the program with various goals, from learning English to earning the credentials necessary for access to gainful employment or higher education. Our Instructional model is focused on collaborative learning with the goal of creating shared knowledge to achieve learning goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversight of GED preparation programs
- Instruction of GED preparation classes
- Pre-testing and post-testing using TABE
- Attend bi monthly staff meetings
- Tracks student attendance in accordance with guidelines
- Optimizes learning outcomes (observes classes, collects student feedback, monitors test scores, and takes steps to improve learning outcomes)
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of teaching experience in an adult education setting
- Strong computer skills, proficient in G suites
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be resourceful
- Ability to be communicative and flexible
