Brooklyn Public Library seeks one Spanish HSE instructors for fall cycle at BPL Adult Learning.
All applicants must be proficient using Zoom and Google classroom. This is a contract position for 8 weeks. 

Schedule:
Class #1 Thursdays 6-9
Class #2 Thursdays 6-9
 
3 hours on Zoom and 2 hours on Google Classroom/Essential Education 
 
Teaching reading/writing (integrating S.S. & Sci.) and Math

$35 hour
10-week cycle (Sept. 27 - Dec. 10)
Compensation: 7 hours each week, please refer to the breakdown:
3 hours of Zoom teaching
2 hours of prep/check for understanding/feedback to students
2 hours of Google classroom postings and/or team meeting 
Total of 7 hours

Position: Adult Basic Education (ABE)/ High School Equivalency (HSE) Teacher (Spanish)
Days: Evenings 6p to 9pm (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays); Saturdays 9a - 2p; with two and half (2.5) hours of prep per week.
Department: Adult Education
Reports to: Director of Adult Education

Position Summary:
The Spanish Adult Basic Education / High School Equivalency Teacher is a part-time position that includes teaching Academics and Test Taking Skills to adults in preparation to take the HSE Exam.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Spanish Adult Basic Education / High School Equivalency class.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff regarding lesson plans, etc.
  • Take daily attendance and maintain minimum student attendance as outlined by contracting agency or funder.
  • Complete in-take forms and create a file for each student.
  • Maintain Monthly Progress reports for all students.
  • Administer TABE and TASC Readiness Exam for students in each class.
  • Maintain communication with Adult Education Program Director about class activities and progress.
  • Submit student attendance, in-take forms, monthly progress reports, and testing information to Office Manager by established deadlines.
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • At minimum two years’ experience teaching Spanish ABE/HSE and/or GED is required.
  • Knowledge of the TASC Exam
  • Bilingual (English /Spanish)
  • Experience working with urban adults and immigrants.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, verbal, and written skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment.

The Adult Learning Center is looking to fill part-time instructor positions including ESOL, Citizenship, and HSE Spanish for daytime, evening, and Saturday sessions. Classes offered at the NYC College of Technology and offsite locations. Classes scheduled to start in September.
Responsibilities include:
  • Customize instruction to create a high quality English curriculum/lesson plans for adults
  • Create a student-centered, engaging learning environment
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback
  • Administer and monitor student testing, including Best Plus and Best Literacy
  • Maintain attendance records and communicate with administrative staff and counselors regarding student absences and other issues
  • Complete 14 hours of professional development through Regional Adult Education Network (RAEN) offerings
Qualifications:
  • BA or BS in education or related field, TESOL
  • Minimum two years related teaching experience, preferably in grant-funded literacy programs
  • Experience creating thematic, content-based curricula
  • Best Plus certified preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills

Job Summary:
St. Nicks Alliance Workforce Development Center seeks Part-Time Spanish High School Equivalency Teachers to teach 5 subjects (Math, Reading, Writing, Social Studies and Science) to adult students in the Adult Education Program, and prepare students for the Spanish TASC exam. These positions require very creative and dedicated instructors particularly experienced with teaching adults. We have immediate openings for the summer, starting in July and the fall, starting September.  Various schedules are available, including mornings and evenings. Part Time Teacher reports to the Adult Education Program Director.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage a classroom of up to 15-20 adults over the age of 21+.
  • Help students prepare for the Spanish TASC exam and improve their literacy level.
  • Develop and deliver daily lesson plans/curriculum and educational activities for students in Spanish HSE programming based on the common core basic practices.
  • Monitor students’ educational progress and liaise with staff members provide feedback and establish education plans.
  • Administer assessments tests and track results.
  • Take and document student attendance for each session. 
  • Demonstrate ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Provide tutoring services to students
Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and minimum 3+ years experience teaching Adult Basic Education.
  • Experienced teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse cultural settings.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish.
  • Passionate teachers looking to empower underserved communities through Spanish High School Equivalency.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Experience with TABE testing preferred.

Position: Part-time Spanish High School Equivalency Teacher
HANAC is seeking 1 part-time Spanish HSE teacher for hire in Corona starting in September 2017 through June 2018; three nights per week from 6-9 pm. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years teaching experience with adult learners.

HSE teachers must be able to teach 5 subject areas especially strong in math and writing.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Instruct and prepare students in the five areas of math, science, writing, reading and social studies in order to take the HSE TASC test.

The Adult Education Program at Union Settlement is happy to announce the opening of (2) two part time instructor positions to teach HSE/ABE in Spanish.  One instructor will be teaching one evening and one Saturday class.  The second instructor will teach one Saturday class only.   

Instructors are responsible for curriculum development, instruction, student attendance, pre/post testing, etc. They are also expected to attend professional development meetings and work collaboratively with the Case Manager and the Program Assistant.   • Plan, prepare and deliver lessons to Spanish –speaking Pre-HSE students, preparing to take the TASC in Spanish.
  • Grade daily classwork and homework assignments and give appropriate feedback.
  • Maintain required records of pupil progress and development.
  • Research new topic areas and maintain up-to-date subject knowledge.
  • Write new curriculum materials.
  • Select and utilize a range of different learning resources and equipment.
  • Monitor student performance on a regular basis throughout the term.
  • Prepare students for TASC practice tests and administer the Readiness tests. 
  • Manage Students' classroom behavior.
  • Participate in staff development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings. 
  • Counsel and support students one-on-one through academic or personal difficulties. 
  • Liaison with other agency professionals in monitoring students' attendance and academic and job readiness progress.
  • Keep attendance on daily basis.
  • Submit lesson plans on a bi-weekly basis.
