JOB TITLE: CASE MANAGER – ADULT EDUCATION (IN PERSON)
 
REPORTS TO:  ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR AND ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTOR
 
Candidate must be able to report to the office Full-Time 5-days a week to support Adult Education In-Person and Remote Learning.  

DUTIES INCLUDE: 
  • Administer one on one-assessment interviews for each new participant on caseload, assessing participant’s education and work history, need for support services, career preferences and barriers to meeting education outcome.   
  • Support a case load of up to 120 students throughout the year.  
  • Develop an Individual Educational/Career Plan for each participant.
  • Ensure that participant’s folders are complete including copies of identification, documents and case notes.
  • Support, monitor and follow-up on participant’s attendance in education classes and other related activities. 
  • Case notes need to be updated monthly with any status change including: non- compliance with program rules and regulation or dismissal from the program.  
  • Make appropriate referrals to address barriers: educational (ESOL, ABE, HSE, Spanish HSE), housing, domestic violence, mental health, college readiness, as well as, other outside resources to meet the client needs. 
  • Administer Best Plus 2.0/TABE testing, assist new students’ intake forms and registration. 
  • Monitor, document and follow up on participant’s attendance in education classes and other related activities.
  • Lead and facilitate small group counseling/workshops at least once every 3 months.
  • Organize and occasionally lead a mixed level conversation class with ESOL students.
  • Ensure ASSIST, CAPRICORN, ETO, WISE (SNAP), HRA and other in-house database systems are updated on a weekly basis.
  • Assist Adult Education Program Director and Data Coordinator in preparing SNAP monthly reports. 
  • Provide referrals to support services and internal St Nicks Alliance programs. 
  • Assist Adult Ed Coordinator with preparing reports/audits for funders.
  • Maintain excellent organizational and time management skills in order to ensure completion of all tasks. 
  • Timely record keeping and quality assurance for compliance with the requirements of various funding sources. 
  • Attend monthly case manager meetings/supervision.
  • Support Adult Education partnerships with ESOL instructors.  
  • Perform other tasks (i.e. graduation ceremonies, student recognition, etc) in support of St. Nicks Alliance as directed.
  • Participate in program meetings and funder professional development.
  • Support all Adult Education programming at St. Nicks Alliance Workforce Center.
  • Must be flexible and be available to work some evenings and occasional Saturdays.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, and Bachelors Degree preferred or 3 years related field experience in social service organization preferred.      
  • Must be bilingual (Spanish, English)) 
  • Ability to work with culturally-diverse individuals, bringing a non-judgmental approach to counseling and casework while maintaining a clear sense of boundaries.
  • Public speaking skills preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication, writing and computer skills.
  • Must be comfortable using databases and entering case notes into required systems.
  • Experience crisis management/ intervention skills preferred. 
  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling with high risk populations.

JOB TITLE:  PROGRAM COORDINATOR FOR ADULT EDUCATION (IN PERSON)
REPORTS TO:  ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM DIRECTOR
 
St. Nicks Alliance Adult Education seeks a successful candidate will provide in person program coordination and direct services for the Department and providing administrative services to program participants. Help to collect, analyze and apply data to our daily operations to both to increase student satisfaction and retention. 
 
Candidate must be able to report to the office Full-Time 5-days a week to support Adult Education In-Person and Remote Learning.  
 
DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Oversee and support all Adult Ed programming including DYCD and NYSED contracts.    
  • Supervise all 3 Adult Ed Case Managers from DYCD and NYSED contracts.  
  • Manage communication and supervision support for all 7 NYSED ESOL instructors.
  • Provide support as needed to DOE OACE administrators, instructors, and paraprofessionals.   
  • Manage a caseload of 80 ESOL students on the NYSED contract.
  • Build excellent student rapport. 
  • Provide support and data analysis for all Adult Education programming and inform Program Director of any discrepancies.  
  • Ensure ETO, ASISTS, HRA and other in-house database systems are updated on a weekly basis.  
  • Coordinate teacher’s professional development, and assist Program Director with general program operations.
  • Provide administrative support for the department, including daily database entry in multiple systems, preparation of records and reports; maintenance of hard copy and electronic filing.
  • Oversee and ensure that participant’s folders are complete; including copies of identification, documents and case notes.
  • Provide orientation for new students on remote learning.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on RingCentral and/or Zoom for ESOL Instructors. 
  • Schedule trainings for Adult Education staff and Administer BEST Plus 2.0 and BEST Literacy assessment exams.  
  • Administer one on one-assessment interviews for each new participant on caseload, assessing participants education and work history, need for support services, career preferences and barriers to meeting education outcome.   
  • Ensure that Monthly funder reports are completed.

BILINGUAL EVENING RECEPTIONIST/DATA ASSISTANT – Adult Education 
REPORTS TO: ADULT EDUCATION Senior Program Coordinator
 
St. Nicks Alliance Adult Education seeks an Evening Receptionist/Data Assistant to provide in person support that reports to both the Adult Education Senior Program Coordinator and Adult Education Program Manager. The candidate needs to be a hardworking individual with the ability to multi-task effectively. This hands-on individual is responsible for all aspects of managing the reception area including answering phones, greeting customers, making copies and changing signage for evening classes. This person is also responsible for attendance tracking, monitoring and data entry into Capricorn, ETO, and other Adult Education Funder databases as needed. This is a part-time position that requires evenings M-Thursday 4-9pm and Saturday am hours starting in September 9am-1pm. 
 
DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Answering multi-line telephone and transferring calls to the proper extensions.
  • Greeting customers and informing them of our variety of services.
  • Processing intake application with proper documentation.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments for clients.
  • Make copies for staff and scan necessary documents for files.
  • File, retrieve and update documents and reports. 
  • Maintain and log daily sign-in sheets for students.
  • Provide timely data entry in DYCD Connect and ETO which also includes enrolling students and assisting with programming. 
  • Prepare classrooms for evening classes by changing signage according to room assignments.

Job Title: ESOL Instructor (Part Time)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Instructor is responsible for teaching English to students in NMIC’s adult education program in a way that is dynamic and contextualized for students’ practical use. Instruction will be provided in-person, remotely, and/or in a hybrid setting. In addition, the instructor will develop and submit regular lesson logs, write student case notes, provide insight on the existing curriculum and meet professional development requirements. This is a part time role with availability in the mornings or evenings. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   
  • Develop and deliver daily lesson plans and educational activities for students in ESOL programming participating both in-person and simultaneous remote instruction - approximately 15 hours per week including planning time.  
  • Actively maintain a digital classroom using either Google Classroom or a similar program to upload class recordings and assign/provide feedback on class and homework within a timely manner. 
  • Administer Best Plus 2.0 exams and track results (training will be provided). 
  • Monitor students’ educational progress and liaise with staff members provide feedback and establish educational plans. 
  • Complete and submit weekly lesson logs and bimonthly student case notes. 
  • Maintain attendance records, ensure accuracy of completion and submit them to program staff. 
  • Attend professional development sessions according to city and state standards. 
  • Attend and participate in regular program meetings. 
  • Initiate and participate in case conferencing as needed. 
  • Work with Academic Coordinator to integrate technology into class work.

Make the Road New York’s Adult Literacy Team is seeking a Part Time math instructor for our Bridge to Health Careers class: in our Bushwick office on Fridays from 8:45am-1:30pm -- (4.5 teaching hours + 4.5 hours of prep time for a total of 9 hours per week) 

Responsibilities / Competencies:
  1. Curricular design work- Hand in course outlines, unit and lesson plans and related materials in the requested format by the deadlines that are set and agreed to. Maintain all of that in the Google drive, and integrate certain thematic content and materials into lessons as required by funders or decided by the team.  
  2. Student Assessment- combine TABE initial assessments with original math assessments at the beginning of the cycle and continue to assess students in an intentional and structured way throughout the cycle.
  3. Instruction- Deliver content material in ways that take into account students’ levels and learning styles, the need to pace and scaffold information, and the need to balance the and cover a variety of math skills in each 16 week cycle.
  4. Communication with and support of students - Call absent students and document calls; make referrals to MRNY’s case manager as needed
  5. Related admin/grant related tasks- in addition to tracking attendance, help with post testing, grading of samples of students’ work, and writing monthly progress notes for a portion of students in the class, as funders require.
  6. Participate in meetings and trainings- attend external professional development according to funders’ requirements, as well as 1 on 1 support meetings, team and staff meetings
  7. Must be creative, organized, and committed to thematic instruction and learner-centered, participatory education
  8. Good team player able to collaborate with the lead teacher. 
Required:

  • At least 3 yrs. math teaching experience, preferably teaching adults.

Class Schedules/length of job: The math class runs 1 day a week- Note: currently it’s Fridays, though it might be possible to move it to another day of the week for the right candidate if Friday is impossible.  Class runs 8:45-1:30.
 
There is a Fall Cohort which starts in mid Sept and a Winter cohort which starts in late Jan/early Feb.   
 
The job will run from late August 2021 to late June 2022 with the possibility to renew for the 2022 / 2023 academic year, depending on the teacher’s performance and funding.  
 
Salary Information: Starting compensation is based on a scale set by a democratically- elected personnel committee and will depend on factors such as experience and education.

Position Description
  • We are seeking an experienced an English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL) instructor to teach one or two of the following ESOL levels: Beginner, High Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Instructors will be working with immigrant populations primarily from the Latino, Chinese, and Arabic communities of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. AMPHS’ ESOL classes aim to empower community members to not only communicate in everyday settings, but to understand their basic rights as immigrants in daily interactions, such as at the doctor’s office, the bank, or with a government agency. The ESOL instructor should be able to teach from a student-centered perspective and employ innovative teaching methods and strategies. He/she reports directly to the Manager of Community Education. 
  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Customize instructional materials by building on own training and experience to create high quality lesson plans to instruct adults in ESOL, using an integrated and relevant, student-driven curriculum
  • Work with AMPHS staff and partners to integrate teaching topics that empower students to communicate and understand their rights in everyday environments, particularly in healthcare settings
  • Personally assess each student's level of ability to ensure appropriate placement and subsequent progress
  • Prepare and distribute instructional materials for classroom/homework use
  • Manage the classroom effectively to maximize student learning
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and work collaboratively with the staff concerning curriculum development

Time Commitment: 
  • This is a part-time position and begins in September 2021 and ends on June 30, 2022. There are opportunities for an extension of the position beyond this date pending program funding.
  • Each class requires 6-9 hours per week, including 6 hours of instructional time and 3 hours of prep time. Instructors may elect to teach more than one class per teaching semester, pending program needs.
  • Morning, evening, and/or weekend availability is required, depending on class session assigned. 
  • Staff meetings and trainings may take place on occasional weekdays (based on instructor availability), evenings or Saturdays.

Compensation: Hourly Rate: $26-30/hour, commensurate with experience

Literacy Partners strengthens families through a two-generation approach to education. With our free classes, community-based workshops, and educational media, low-income parents develop the literacy and language skills they need to succeed in today’s world. Our research-based curriculum also incorporates child development and parenting support to help parents boost their children’s early reading, school readiness, and social emotional growth.

The Position: The Director of Data Analytics will be responsible for maintaining and reporting evaluation and participant data for all programs and people in the data management system (Salesforce). This is a senior leadership position that will work closely with the Chief Program Officer in the development and implementation of evaluation and enrollment instruments for all programs at Literacy Partners, as well as manage budget and grant reporting for all programs in the Liz Smith Center.
 
Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this position is a key member of a Liz Smith Center leadership team and will join our diverse, social justice‐oriented team of 27 staff and more than 100 interns and volunteers.
Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements and monitors an evaluation plan addressing logic models, strategic and program evaluation questions, data collection methods, analysis and reporting.
  • Develops data collection policies and practices and monitors uniform data collection compliance and quality across organizations, including oversight on all data collection instruments in programs
  • Work with consultants and staff to maintain and refine the data management system (Salesforce) system as needed.
  • Collaborate with Volunteer Coordinator and Health Equity Manager to develop and administer enrollment and participation data collection for volunteers and interns for all programs in Salesforce.
  • Keeps current regarding funding requirements for data collection and reporting and puts into place local methods to ensure reliable, accurate compliance which reflect service activities;
  • Produce regular reports that succinctly identify real-time program performance, progress, and results with careful attention to key performance indicators within and across programs.
  • Work with researchers and staff to conduct quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation processes including Participatory Action Research.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant work experience with progressive data management and research responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and experience of using evaluation and community-based research to inform program development
  • Demonstrated expertise in successfully designing and carrying out sophisticated quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation processes
  • Demonstrated ability in designing and manipulating data using a relational database; experience with Salesforce preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience.
  • Proficiency in Spanish highly preferred, but not required.
  • Well-organized, motivated and able to work independently
  • Good sense of humor

Literacy Partners strengthens families through a two‐generation approach to education. With our free classes, community‐based workshops, and educational media, low‐income parents develop the literacy and language skills they need to succeed in today’s world. Our research‐based curriculum also incorporates child development and parenting support to help parents boost their children’s early reading, school readiness, and social-emotional growth.

The Position: We are looking for an exceptional individual who believes in our mission and is able to work with a dynamic and talented team to develop and grow our literacy and language programs in the Liz Smith Center (https://literacypartners.org/our‐classes). In particular, the English for Parents Program Manager will be responsible for managing twelve ESOL classes and teaching one class.

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, this position manages three ESOL teachers and will join our diverse, social justice‐oriented team of 27 staff and more than 100 interns and volunteers.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the teaching team in curriculum development, pedagogical approach, assessment of KPIs and collaboration.
  • Manage logistics of English for Parents program, including recruitment, registration, class schedules, assessment and management of student, intern and volunteer records in Salesforce.
  • Support online and in-person instruction, including technology support, supplies and classroom rental agreements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met for governmental and foundation grants, including workforce tracking, social services referrals, and enrollment and achievement targets.
  • Work with the Health Equity Manager and CPO to build partnerships with early childhood providers and health providers that will scale the program and provide support services for students.
  • Work with the Volunteer Coordinator and Health Equity Manager to facilitate intern and volunteer support for English for Parents classes.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum two-year experience managing adult literacy programs, ESOL preferred
  • BA Degree, MA preferred
  • TESOL certified with at least one year of teaching experience
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Strong digital communications skills, including database and project management software
  • Bilingual a plus, but not required (Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic)
  • Experience in non-profits preferred
  • Great sense of humor
