The Education Fund of District Council 37 is seeking two part-time educational/vocational counselors to work primarily at our downtown facility during the evening programs commencing January 2018.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting workshops for students enrolled in classes and occasional workshops for non-enrolled members
- Meet with students on an individual basis to provide academic and vocational advisement
- Direct students to support services needed
- Maintain detailed records of sessions
- Designing counseling brochures, flyers and presentations
- Making phone calls to members to follow up on placement, absence or other issues
Requirements:
- Experience working in an Adult Education setting
- Experience with educational and vocational counseling
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field
- Ability to work with a diverse population with varied abilities and needs
- Familiarity with the TASC exam and CUNY assessment exams
- Ability to travel within the five boroughs
- Excellent communication skills required
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is not a requirement but would be beneficial
