Teaching
  • Teaches one 5-week, in-person Computer Skills Class
  • Conducts individual tutoring sessions as needed for low literacy, vocational training, pre-ABE, HSE Tailors content for each individual lesson for each trainee for each session
  • Administers one 6-week, asynchronous Online Computer Skills Class
Departmental Responsibilities
  • Provides career, vocational, and educational counseling by determining trainees’ educational and professional qualifications and transferable skills by completing Education and Training intakes with trainees
  • Acts as Education & Training Department resource for clients and staff members alike Facilitates monthly Education and Training orientations as needed
  • Attends departmental and facility meetings
  • Performs other duties related to the goals of the Education and Training Team as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This is a full-time position which includes evening hours – candidates must be able to teach 4 evenings per week from 6-9 pm

Job Description:
Administration and supervision of the Adult Education and workforce programs and services.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 
  • Direct supervision of adult education support and instructional staff.
  • Curriculum design and implementation for adult focused Career Education and literacy (High School Equivalency and ESOL) instruction.
  • Oversee current career education and literacy programs insuring quality and cost effectiveness of services.  Expand program offerings as guided by the needs of the current and future expectations of the workforce and educational monitoring agencies.
  • Oversee compliance with the following initiatives:
    • Accreditation with the Council on Occupational Education (COE)
    • Federal Education Title IV Eligibility (PELL Grants and Stafford Loans)
    • Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
    • Oversee data reporting for the following NYS oversight agencies:

  • Prepare and administer budgets, Co-Sers, grants and proposals for funding of the various elements of the department so as to ensure budget solvency.
  • Recruit, mentor and assess BOCES 2 CWD staff.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the workforce, literacy, community and customized training programs and contracts.
  • Plan and administer facility and equipment usage for the department.
  • Represent BOCES 2 Center for Workforce Development with business, industry, unions, healthcare, community based, educational, county, regional, state, and federal organizations and agencies.
  • Develop, implement and gauge marketing and public relations endeavors relating to CWD.
  • Liaison to internal Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES departments and committees to assure consistency of policies and procedures throughout the agency.
  • Perform such other professionally related duties as may be assigned by the administration.

Job Qualifications
New York State Certification as School District Administrator or School District Leader; 3-5 years’ experience administering adult and/or higher education programs preferred.

  • Responsible for oversight of all classes, including intakes and testing
  • Teach adult education classes (ESOL, Civics, Workforce), both as an assigned instructor and as a substitute, as needed
  • Identify, develop and implement curricula for all Adult Education & Workforce programming that align with standards and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
  • Assist with coordinating teacher schedules, timesheets and general operations for the smooth running of classes. Assist program manager with recruiting  paid and volunteer teachers
  • Co-lead in arranging and leading monthly staff development sessions, including sessions on various instruction methods and enriched learning in classroom settings
  • Provide administrative functions for the department, including daily database entry in multiple systems, preparation of records and reports; and maintenance of hard copy and electronic filing systems
  • Conduct participant intakes, recruitment, and testing

Duties and Responsibilities:  (1) research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans; and, (2) instruct adults in academic and/or nonacademic subjects in order to develop and/or enhance their employment skills.

WPTI Field Building Hub Director F/T

WPTI Field Building Hub Director
The Director will guide the launch of the Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) Field Building Hub, a new innovation and capacity-building center designed to strengthen the New York City workforce development community. The Director will lead and oversee all aspects of the Hub’s implementation and raise future funding. 
 
The Director will work in close coordination with WPTI’s leadership team, and be guided by a field-wide Hub Advisory Committee. The Director should be inclusive, resourceful, and entrepreneurial.
 
The Hub will have three core functions : 
1) Innovation: encouraging true systemic and practice change in the field;
​2) Strengthening: offering training and consultation to create field-wide strength and resilience; and 3) Convening: bringing together key stakeholders from across the entire workforce field to identify system change issues and capacity gaps, shaping the future of the field.

CAMBA's comprehensive Workforce Development and Refugee Services programs annually provide over 1,800 low income community members with employment, education, training, benefits access, financial literacy and English language services. CAMBA specializes in assisting those with special barriers to employment including low skilled workers, long-term unemployed, immigrants and refugees, limited English speakers, formerly homeless, seniors, formerly incarcerated, trauma survivors and victims of human trafficking. These programs are performance-based, and success is measured by meeting enrollment, employment placement, training, retention, and case management goals.

The person filling this position is expected, under general direction, to: (1) research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans; and, (2) instruct adults in academic and/or nonacademic subjects in order to develop and/or enhance their employment skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and one year of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience​.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Teaching style must be hands-on, interactive, and participatory (not lecture based).
  • Ability to multi-task and to work a flexible or alternative workweek schedule based upon program needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with immigrant, refugee and asylee populations.
