Part-Time Case Manager Positions (Bilingual Spanish Preferred)
Adult Basic Skills (ABS) Program at LaGuardia Community College
LaGuardia Community College is seeking two part-time case managers for its ABS High School Equivalency preparation program for 19 hours per week. This involves some day and evening hours and an occasional Saturday.
​
Case Manager must be comfortable with addressing barriers that will prevent students from pursuing their goal. Case Manager must work closely with teachers and administrative staff to provide the necessary support for the students in our program. learner-centered, participatory lessons and a project-based approach.
We are seeking a qualified case manager who has experience working with adult students. BA/BS degree required in social work or related field, plus a minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with adults as a case manager. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Primary Responsibilities include:
  • Providing high quality support services to students we serve in the program
  • Interviewing prospective students to discuss possible barriers
  • Identifying and addressing issues as childcare, housing, family illness, work schedule, time management, finance, and other obstacles preventing students to complete their course
  • Communicating with students regarding absenteeism
  • Motivating students to persist and succeed in the program
  • Developing and presenting workshops on how to study, test anxiety, time management, financial literacy, etc.
  • Assisting students to complete GED applications
  • Conferencing students individually on their goals and next steps
  • Collaborating with the Career Development Center to assist students in applying to college
  • Referrals to appropriate training programs, employment opportunities and/or community agencies
  • Participating in professional development and staff meetings
  • Other related tasks, as necessary
  • Part-time positions 19 hours per week (flexible hours) through June 2023 (with the possibility of extending past June 2023)

The JCC of Greater Coney Island is looking to hire a FT bi-lingual Spanish Program Aide/Case Manager for our Adult Literacy (English as a Second Language) program.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • data entry
  • interacting with adult students on a continuous basis
  • case management
  • testing
  • ability to work in-person and remotely
  • availability to work daytime and some evening hours
  • willingness to travel within the 5 boroughs
  • must be bi-lingual Spanish
 
Prior experience in the Adult Literacy/ESL field is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate.  Candidate must be hard working and eager to work in the social service field.

Program Assistant P/T

The Fifth Avenue Committee is looking for a Program Assistant to assist administrators and instructors with the continual improvement of our program offerings. Must be available to work 10 to 20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings at our different locations in South Brooklyn. 
Duties:
  • Assist in outreach, intake, orientation, and case management of participants.
  • Collect and enter data for performance-based contracts.
  • Maintain accurate and complete participant files.
  • Maintain clean and organized spaces. 
  • Assist Case Manager in screening and referring participants to wrap around services.
  • Assist in individual and/or small group work with students.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish/English or Mandarin/English required
  • High School Diploma or HSE required and 2 years of experience working as a Program Assistant preferred.
  • Friendly, professional demeanor both in person and over the telephone.
  • Excellent communication skills, well-organized, and motivated.
  • Enthusiasm and respect for working with low-income adult population.
  • Basic Computer skills a must.

Adult Education Counselor P/T

Adult Education Counselor (P/T)
Inwood Community Services, Inc., a community-based not-for-profit in Northern Manhattan, seeks an Adult Education Counselor to support ESOL and EL/Civics students. The schedule is 14 hours/week, Monday-Thursday, 5:30PM-9PM. Service provision is primarily in-person with some flexibility for remote follow-up with students
We seek:
  • Dedicated educators with good interpersonal skills committed to empowering adult immigrant students
  • Spanish/English bilingual applicants with 3-plus years’ experience in adult education or literacy
  • Applicants able to form referral networks with education, training, employment, and social services
Responsibilities:
  • Assess and develop Individual Service Plans for incoming students; follow up to evaluate student progress and assist students with education, training, job and personal goals.
  • Develop and maintain networks appropriate for referrals for services needed
  • Assist in the smooth delivery of classes. Counselors may deliver workshops on appropriate topics; support teachers with issues relating to class management; and  follow up with students on issues related to learning, attendance, retention or other area of concern.
  • Participate in registration, orientation, pre- and post-testing
Requirements:
  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree plus three years’ experience in adult literacy
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Familiarity with the local area of Inwood and surroundings is a plus
  • Certification in Best Plus Administration or willing to become certified
  • COVID vaccination is required with very rare exceptions based on religious or medical exemption
 
Compensation: based on experience.

ICS is a not-for-profit in the Inwood neighborhood of Northern Manhattan with diverse community-oriented programming including its nearly 40-year Adult Literacy program.  We welcome staff from the local area as well as those outside the neighborhood committed to the field of adult literacy.

Literacy Case Manager (Spanish-speaking) F/T
 
Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender-based violence.

The Literacy Case Manager will assist with the coordination of academic and literacy related activities for Sanctuary for Families’ Economic Empowerment Program (EEP), focusing on Spanish-speaking clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assesses students’ literacy and fluency levels using the TABE and the BEST Plus
  • Assists with student case management
  • Monitors student progress while enrolled in external GED/Adult Literacy programs
  • Facilitates individual and small group sessions focused on language and literacy development
  • Assists with general class instruction
  • Provides administrative support to EEP’s Spanish programming
Fluency in English and Spanish required
Salary: $45,000 + benefits
Hybrid position (1-2 days a week in our office in downtown Manhattan)

Center for Family Life in Sunset Park is seeking to hire a full time Bilingual Case Manager
 
The Center for Family Life is a neighborhood based social service agency offering a comprehensive range of services to children and adults while contributing to community building. The services include family counseling, adult and youth employment services, emergency food and extensive social, educational, and recreational programming at various local schools.

The Adult Employment Program is an open admissions job readiness program that assists unemployed and underemployed participants with their search for work. The services include job readiness preparation, assessment and referrals according to participants' needs. The Adult Employment Program is currently looking for a Case Manager to help unemployed job seekers with their search for work and to provide case management services to immigrant families.
​
The Case Manager will be a full-time (35 hours/week) staff member of Center for Family Life. The Case Manager will be responsible for providing culturally competent, strength-based case management services to immigrant families whose primary language is Spanish.
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting intake interviews to identify families who qualify for the program
  • Facilitating Orientation and other workshops for new participants, and providing detailed information about the Program, all other services available at CFL and at community partners and other City-funded programs that support immigrant families.
  • Collaborating with families to develop a Comprehensive Needs Assessment and a Family Services Plan (FSP)
  • Connecting family members to services identified in the FSP, including scheduling appointments, maintaining communication with service providers, and following up on appointments; Accompanying clients to appointments as needed
  • Meeting with each family at least bi-weekly; Reassessing the needs of family members and service effectiveness to inform changes to the FSP
  • Coaching family members to develop self-advocacy skills and become self-sufficient as they navigate the complex systems that affect their lives and independently access the services and benefits they need
  • Monitoring the implementation of the FSP and participants’ progress toward the short- and long-term goals identified in the FSP
  • Maintaining timely case records and documentation requirements, including recording case information, progress notes, and all required documents in a Department of Youth and Community Development online database system
  • Participating in individual supervision with Program Director and in weekly group supervision/professional development sessions for CFL’s casework team.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology or a related subject area
  • Relevant case management experience working with children and families in low-income, immigrant communities
  • Fully Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Strong time management skills and group work skills
 
This is a full-time position, primarily in person position. Salary $21 per hour with an excellent benefits package
