Adult Learning Outreach Liaison (Part Time)
Brooklyn Public Library’s Adult Learning Department is seeking an Outreach Liaison to build relationships and interact with community partners to increase knowledge of BPL’s Adult Learning Programs and other compelling resources that the Library offers.
Responsibilities

Build relationships with community partners, civic associations, and public school parent coordinators.
Present BPL Adult Learning programs and other Library offerings at community meetings/gatherings, nonprofit partner staff meetings, local events.
Create a mobile outreach kit for use at information tables and presentations
Help develop/maintain Adult Learning section of BPL website & the department’s social media presence.
Coordinate quarterly partner breakfasts/meetings with local CBO’s
Track activities and statistics and help write reports for funders and other stakeholders
Participate in meetings/trainings

Qualifications

BA/BS in education or related field
Experience in adult education and/or working with adult learners
1 year experience in non-profit outreach or marketing
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing); ability to present effectively
Experience building partnerships and collaborating with various agencies and programs
Ability to travel to other locations as required
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Fluency or familiarity in other languages is a plus

This is a grant-funded, part time position. Schedule: 10-15 hours/week @ $15.00/hour.

Part time Outreach Liaison
Duties & Responsibilities

Build institutional relationships with community partners, such as CAMBA, the Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center, BIDs, neighborhood civic associations, NYCHA partnership coordinators and public school parent coordinators.
Present BPL Adult Learning programs and the Library’s wider offerings at community meetings, nonprofit partner staff meetings, community engagement gatherings led by City agencies (such as the Brownsville vacant lot initiative) and other local events.
Highlight Library’s many compelling free resources, the stigma of learning to read as an adult is removed and we will better be able to reach those whose literacy challenges are otherwise invisible.
Work to create a mobile outreach kit, including print and digital materials, as well as custom signage for the consultant to staff information tables and make presentations at school parent-teacher conference nights, community health and street fairs.
Help develop and maintain the Adult Learning section of the new BPL website as well as the department’s social media presence.
Coordinate quarterly partner breakfasts and meetings at BPL Learning Centers, where local community based organizations will be invited to learn about BPL’s Adult Learning programs and other offerings, ask questions and network among themselves.
Track activities and outreach statistics and help write reports for funders and other stakeholders on the impact of outreach activities on student recruitment, partnership building, and program visibility.
Participate in departmental as well as system wide meetings and training to share and learn about program developments, new initiatives, and institutional goals.

Skills & Qualifications

BA/BS degree in education or related field
Experience in adult education and/or working with adult learners
2 years experience in non-profit outreach or marketing
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing); ability to present effectively
Experience building partnerships and collaborating with various agencies and programs
Travel to other locations and non-library locations as required
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Fluency or familiarity in other languages is a plus
