HANAC, INC. seeks an Intake Clerk for George T. Douris site
Start Date: November 1st, 2021
Hourly pay: $18.45 
Monday through Wednesday Evenings from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.; Thursday evenings from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. & Saturdays from: 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM                               
Summary:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Pre-Test and Post-Test students using BEST Plus 2.0                                       
  • Places students according to English Proficiency Level          
  • Assists students in filling out enrolment forms        
  • Enters information in ASISTS and DYCD Connect data bases on a weekly  basis     
  • Enters data on Google docs on a daily basis
  • Checks data base for accuracy and consistency on a bi-weekly basis
  • Attends BEST Plus 2.0 refresher workshops or recertification workshops
  • Provides information about the program to potential students and organizations
  • Assists with registration and outreach for the program
  • Contacts students who stop coming for more than two sessions
  • Creates folders for all enrolled students, verifies that folders contain all required forms, and verifies that the information is written correctly on the forms.
  • Ensures that each student who has achieved the bench mark hours have a portfolio.
  • Provides teachers with programmatic support like: placing students in different levels or schedules upon conferencing with the teacher.  Provides teachers/instructors with teaching materials like markers, erasers, pencils, calculators, etc.
  • Other duties as required by the program

​Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be BEST Plus 2.0 certified and have experience working in the ASISTS Data Base and DYCD Connect database. Candidates must be flexible and willing to learn programs procedures quickly. Candidates must be able to work independently, have good communication skills, and must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Docs.

Education and/or Experience required:
High School Diploma Required, Associates Degree preferred and at least one year of experience working with ASISTS data base and DYCD Connect and experience in administering BEST PLUS 2.0

Language Skills: 
Candidate must be Bilingual in English-Spanish to be able to interact with students in both languages.

Case Management Professional Developer
The Office of Academic Affairs at The City University of New York is seeking an experienced professional developer to support the case management staff in our Adult Literacy Programs.

Managers work at campus-based BE/HSE and ESOL programs, supporting students in workshops, small groups and individual meetings, in identifying their career goals and creating career and academic plans. They also help students develop the skills to address physical, mental, financial and learning challenges. 

The Case Management Professional Developer oversees professional development for student supports at 14 campuses and may also provide professional development as part of the New York State Teacher Leader Institute. Bronx Community College Adult Education and Training Program seeks Case Manager Displaced Homemaker Program
Responsibilities:
  • Interview prospective clients to determine eligibility for NYS Displaced Homemaker services
  • Assessing clients preferences and abilities to develop Employment Plan
  • Provide Work Readiness workshops and Microsoft Office training to prepare clients to transition in or back into the workforce
  • Conduct mock interviews and job referrals as well as other social service referrals as needed

ESL Instructor- Remote Morning Class
 
The Jewish Community Council of GCI is looking to hire an experienced Adult ESL Instructor to provide remote ESL instruction (via Zoom) to adults. Class will “meet” 2 mornings per week. 

​Duties include: assessing/testing students, providing appropriate remote instruction etc. BA, experience teaching remote ESL classes, and excellent English written/oral skills required. BEST Plus certification is preferred.

  • Passionate teachers looking to empower immigrant communities through English language education.
  • Applicants with ESL teaching experience required. TESOL/CELTA certification highly preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Help second language learners improve their English conversation skills through communicative language teaching (CLT) approach.
  • Implement and adapt lesson plans from a standards-based curriculum.
  • Use digital platforms to instruct, communicate and record attendance data.
  • Report to the Director of Adult Education and Workforce Development.
