ESOL Instructor P/T

Turning Point Education Center is seeking a part-time ESOL teacher. The class meets 3 evenings per week (6pm-8pm), for a total of 10 work hours per week (class + flexible prep time). Staff are expected to be on-site between at least 5:30pm and 8:15pm, to conference with colleagues and students. Expected start date is April 6th.

The class is co-located at a local elementary school; flexibility, aptitude for working with multiple partners, and excellent communication skills are required. Teachers are responsible for a class of 15-20 students and must be comfortable with learner-centered, participatory lessons and a project-based approach.

Young Adult Literacy Program (YALP) Instructor (PT)

BPL’s Adult Learning Dept seeks dynamic, experienced teacher to deliver rigorous, engaging Pre-HSE level instruction to young adults (16 to 24 years old). Must demonstrate knowledge of Common Core State Standards (CCSS), balanced literacy teaching approaches & youth development principles.

Responsibilities

Develop and provide engaging, explicit reading strategy, writing, and math instruction to young adults in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team
Participate in training as required.
Manage student records and assessment data.
Provide support at recruitment, outreach, and recognition events.
Addt’l duties as requested.

Requirements

BA in Education or related field; MA/MS a plus.
At least 2 years successful teaching experience with YA’s; exp. with pre-HSE & CCSS
Superior facilitation and interpersonal skills.
Exp. & interest in working with at risk youth
Exp. administering the TABE assessment; working knowledge of current TASC exam.

$35.00/hr, 19 hrs/week. Grant-funded.

Passionate ESOL Instructors (Part-time, Multiple positions)

Literacy Partners is seeking dynamic teachers to teach ESOL for Parents of Young Children (15-20 hrs per week on weekday mornings). Our mission is to strengthen families by empowering parents through education. We help low‐income parents gain the skills to create better lives for themselves while advancing their children’s cognitive and social‐emotional development.

There is ample professional development opportunity and room for advancement.

We deliver basic literacy and English classes for parents of Head Start children and are planning a program expansion to four new locations in the South Bronx and Central Brooklyn. Training begins in late-February.

We are looking for teachers with:

ESOL Tutor P/T

The CLIP program at Bronx Community College seeks a tutor for upper-level ESOL students who are preparing for college.

Monday , Tuesday and Thursday from 10-3. Pay is $21/hour.

Required qualifications: BA and experience helping advanced ESOL students with essay writing. Some graduate school credits in TESOL or applied linguistics preferred.
