P/T Adult Education Coordinator with Community Impact at Columbia University. This is a temporary, 6-month position, 20 hours/week: Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-8:30pm.
Basic Duties and Functions Join the staff at Community Impact at Columbia University as a part-time Adult Ed Coordinator to help coordinate our evening GED and ESOL programs. These programs provide free classes as well as a full range of academic offerings and support services designed to help neighborhood adults improve their English and/or achieve their HSE diploma, enroll in college, and obtain employment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with two years minimum experience in adult education or a related field required. Prior experience in program management, oversight of government grants and staff supervision preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks. Salary range of $30-34/per hour, commensurate with experience.

- Coordinate ESOL/GED participant recruitment, enrollment, and class placement
- Administer pre and post tests to measure participant benchmarks and progress
- Supervise Columbia University student staff and volunteers
- Track participant attendance and performance
- Initiate and nurture relationships with community organizations and University
- departments to facilitate participant, volunteer, and work-study recruitment
- Assist teachers with lesson plans and classroom management
- Connect participants with wrap around services
- Plan, organize and deliver participant orientation sessions and completion ceremonies
- Assist with grant management including requirements for enrollment and outcomes
- Attend required adult education training workshops
