The Adult Literacy Program provides ESOL and Technology classes to immigrant adults in New York City. As the Adult Literacy Zone Counselor, you will support learners by providing counseling, case management and connecting them to different partner agencies so they will be successful in their career and educational goals.
You will:
- Assess needs and develop students’ individual education plans
- Work with colleagues to ensure that students meet program requirements
- Help students prepare and polish resumes
- Assist students in developing workplace “soft skills”
- Promote learning in the home and so students become more involved in their children’s education
- Communicate with students and members of the community to help understand our program
- Enter data into database and assist in data collection and analysis
- Maintain attendance and performance records for students and track their progress
- Attend training, conferences, and professional development
- Network with Literacy Zone collaborators to ensure that Literacy Zone objectives are met
