The incumbent will prepare lesson plans for daily instruction; review the curriculum to make supplementations for delivery in a systematic matter and conduct pre and post assessment tests. He/she is expected to create an educational environment conducive to optimal learning while keeping abreast of and utilizing CUNY Common Core standards related to Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC); develop resources and references for participant’s use as a workplace literacy venture. In addition, The Basic Skills Instructor is expected to encourage and model appropriate behavior and attitude for the POISED students.
Position requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field; at least ( 2) years’ experience teaching and a solid ability to engage students and prove effectiveness of teaching methods; adept at delivering effective written and oral instructions and computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point as well as the internet.
