The Adult Basic Skills Program at LaGuardia Community College has an employment opening for a part-time/ temporary position of Educational Case Manager (ECM).
The primary responsibilities of this position will be:
- To counsel and advise adult clients on career and college pathways, goal setting, job readiness, and any necessary social services referral needs, both through in-class workshops and one-on-one follow-up sessions
- To complete and/or update the education and employment plan with each student
- To motivate students to persist and succeed in the program and in their post-secondary and/or career plans
- To conduct workshops on the college application process including financial aid and other college entrance requirements and to assist students who apply in the college process
- To follow up with students once they have acquired their High School Equivalency Diploma and exited our program
- To coordinate with HSE instructors in order to monitor student progress and barriers
- To lead workshops on career planning topics and job readiness
- To act as liaison with internal and external partners on student-related matters, employment and training opportunities, and college entry
- To collect, enter, and verify student and referral information for all required databases
- Other related tasks, as necessary
- Bachelor’s degree in a social work, counseling or a related field
- Relevant experience in counseling individuals and/or leading workshops
- Morning and evening hours required
