LESSON PLANNING AND CLASSROOM CONTENT
- Plan and execute engaging lesson plans for General English that incorporate reading, listening, speaking, and writing (with a focus on speaking) and are lively, challenging, fun and relevant to teen learners
- Create differentiated lessons for Plus! elective courses within one of the following elective topics: Leaders & Entrepreneurs, Broadway & Performance Arts, Fashion, Film & Multimedia Arts and American Sports
- Assist with and lead Wednesday Plus! trips for your assigned elective in NYC/Greater New York area
- Introduce and assess use of new vocabulary, functional language, and grammar through varied, student-centered, communicative activities
- Prepare daily lesson plans with clear lesson objectives that include engaging activities, incorporate technology, and culminate with a final weekly project
- Exhibit strong classroom management skills
- Assist Academic Manager with administration of oral placement tests for arriving students every Monday
- Submit accurate attendance records daily, and weekly progress reports on time to Academic Manager
To be considered for this role, candidates have full availability from July 2 - July 20 for our New Rochelle program, a Duration of employment is based on student enrollments.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and US work permit
- Ability to create differentiated content-based lessons for elective courses
- TESOL certificate, state teaching license, or Master’s degree is ESL or related field required
- At least 1 year of ESL teaching experience, with some prior experience teaching youth
- Demonstrated understanding of teenagers and appropriate teaching strategies
- Respect for and dedication to Rennert Teens mission, and working with students from varied backgrounds
- Strong self and time management skills, proven track record of leadership and problem-solving
- Enthusiasm, flexibility, patience and a dedication to the staff and students
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Gmail and DropBox
