Part-Time ESOL Instructors – Morning and Evening Programs
LaGuardia Community College – Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET)
The Center for Immigrant Education and Training (CIET) at LaGuardia Community College is seeking dynamic and innovative part-time ESOL instructors to teach in its adult ESOL programs.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Teach approximately 9 hours per week in the Morning and Evening ESOL Programs:
    • Morning: 9:15 AM – 12:15 PM
    • Evening: 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM
    • Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Create a communicative, dynamic, inclusive and culturally responsive learner-centered classroom  environment for immigrant English language learners.
  • Deliver contextualized instruction around themes such as:
    • College transition
    • Civic engagement
    • Career planning and job readiness
    • Reading and writing development
  • Monitor and document student progress and attendance.
  • Support the program with all required administrative documentation.
  • Attend 14 hours of paid RAEN professional development.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.
Compensation:
  • $44.31 per hour for instruction
  • Additional 2 hours per week for preparation time, paid at the same rate.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a recognized TESOL certification or MA TESOL coursework
  • Relevant and substantial ESOL teaching experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proven ability to build rapport with students.
