Hot Bread Kitchen seeks a part-time ESOL instructor to provide contextualized lessons to members enrolled in the Bridge (Introductory ESOL for the Culinary Workforce) and Culinary Training programs and help them achieve their career goals. Our ESOL classes focus on developing English language skills for the culinary workforce and embrace translanguaging pedagogy. The ESOL instructor will report to the Bridge Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide contextualized and differentiated ESOL instruction for members enrolled in our programs
- Implement and administer the Best Plus test
- Document attendance and progress
- Organize and document lesson plans
- Attend bi-weekly meetings with Program Manager
- Schedule and provide one-on-one support to members
- Ensure program outcomes are met
Skills & Experience
- Passion for Hot Bread Kitchen’s mission
- Master’s Degree in TESOL
- Min. 3 years teaching ESOL to adult multilingual learners remotely and in-person
- Knowledge of translanguaging pedagogy
- Knowledge of Google Classroom
- Best Plus Certified
- Strong communicator with ability to work with a diverse group of bi/multilinguals adult learners
Estimated Total Project Time & Schedule:
1. ESOL Culinary (Intermediate)
- Teach 37.5 hours/cohort of contextualized ESOL to members enrolled in the Culinary Training Program. (Approx. 5 weeks/cohort - 4 cohorts/year)
- Approx. 12 hrs/week including prep. time
- Monday to Friday 3:15 to 4:45 pm
- Cohorts start on April 3rd
2. Introductory ESOL for the Culinary Workforce (Beginner)
- Teach 9 hours/week for 11 weeks per cohort (4 cohorts/year)
- Approx. 15 hrs/week including prep. time
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays 9:30 to 12:30 (3 cohorts)
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursdays 6:30 to 9:30 pm (1 cohort)
- Cohort 1 starts on March 7th
Start date: 3/7/2023
Compensation (teaching and prep time): $40 hour
