Schedule: 40 hours per week, generally Monday – Friday, with 2 evening shifts when evening classes are in session and rotating Saturdays
Essential Functions:
ESOL Instructor:
- Serves as an ESOL instructor with a focus on speaking, listening, reading, writing, as well as integration of technology in the classroom
- Implements and customizes lesson plans for low-literacy population based on a standards-based curriculum
- In consultation with Department staff, implements strategies designed to maintain high student retention
- Evaluates student performance, discusses areas of improvement with students, and develops appropriate strategies to address needs
- Assess and develop Individual Service Plans for incoming students
- Follow up to evaluate student placement, progress and attendance in class
- Assist students in overcoming barriers to attendance or retention
- Assist students with education, training, job and personal goals
- Maintain records of all counseling interactions
- Assist in the smooth delivery of classes. Support teachers with issues relating to class management, follow up with students on issues related to learning, behavior, attendance, retention or other area of concern.
- Participate in registration and orientation
- Attends and participates in regular staff development sessions and staff meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- BA and at least 4 or more years of experience in a similar role
- CELTA certification strongly preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of ESOL technology instruction
- Extensive experience working with an immigrant community
- Proficiency in English and Spanish
- COVID Vaccination Required
