DIVISION OF CONTINUING EDUCATION
PART TIME ESOL INSTRUCTOR POSITIONS
Under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of Education Programs, the ESOL Instructor will provide English language instruction to students at the Adult Learning Center. Daytime, evening, and Saturday classes available with hybrid or in-person schedules.
Instruction will be conducted with a combination of online lessons via Zoom and in-person classes at 25 Chapel Street in downtown Brooklyn.
Daytime Class Schedule:
Monday (in-person) 9am – 1pm
Wednesday (virtual) 9am – 1pm
Thursday (virtual) 9am – 1pm
Evening Class Schedule:
Monday (virtual) 6-9pm
Wednesday (virtual) 6-9pm
Thursday (in-person) 6-9pm
Saturday Class Schedule:
9am – 3pm (in-person)
Responsibilities include:
- Develop theme-based, contextualized lessons using both synchronous and in-person instruction to create a high-quality English curriculum/lesson plans for adults
- Create a student-centered, engaging learning environment, as required by CUNY
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback, both formally and informally
- Administer and monitor student testing, including Best Plus and Best Literacy
- Maintain attendance records and work collaboratively with administrators and counselors on student participation and needs
- Complete 14 hours of professional development through Regional Adult Education Network (RAEN) offerings
- BA or BS in education or related field, TESOL
- Minimum two years related teaching experience, preferably in grant-funded literacy programs
- Experience creating thematic, content-based curricula
- Experience teaching online classes preferred
- Best Plus certified preferred
- Proficient at integrating technology into lessons
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills
Hourly teaching rate starts at $39 per hour
