BPL’s adult literacy and learning department is seeking ESOL teachers to teach beginning and intermediate level English language for its WIOA funded classes.
Responsibilities
- Be part of an academic team responsible for presenting standard American English language to English-language learners
- Engage students in a rich and engaging learning
- Prepare syllabus and lesson plans that uses library collection and curriculum
- Administer standardized assessments to all ESOL learners
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner
- Provide feedback and support that encourages the learners to develop both language skills and their learning autonomy
- Participate in library and industry professional development and training
- BA/BS required, certificate in TESOL or experience instructing in ESOL a plus
- Knowledge of TESOL methodology and techniques; experience with multicultural, adult learners
- Experience administering standardized assessments
- Successfully demonstrated knowledge of technology-assisted learning, instructional software, and distance learning platforms preferred
- Comfortable with database management, network management, desktop publishing, and Internet navigation applications
- Excellent organizational and customer service skills
- Ability to solve problems with a strong commitment to adult literacy and learning
- Must be able to work varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Salary: 38 per hour
