The rate is $35 per hour
Specific Duties:
- Plan and teach all five content areas of the HSE in accordance to NYS Adult Education standards, with emphasis on math, essay writing, and visual literacy skills
- Develop and modify curricula for small groups and individual student needs
- Integrate technology into the classroom
- Administer and grade TABE, TASC Readiness Assessment, and classroom assessments and use these to drive instruction
- Complete weekly updates
- Monitor student time and attendance
- Assist with student outreach, retention, and other administrative duties, as requested
- Participate in professional development opportunities and best practice sharing
- Perform all other appropriate duties as assigned by supervisor
Key Performance Measures: Punctual class start, high student retention rate; high quality classroom instruction and lesson planning that integrates performance-based assessments and technology; accurate TABE testing, effective classroom management and community building; effective sharing of best practices; accurate and timely completion of attendance reporting, weekly reporting and student secondary gains reporting; NRS educational gains targets met or exceeded
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and experience teaching HSE preparation to adult learners or at-risk youth required; MA/MS and a strong math teaching background strongly preferred; knowledge of MS Word and Excel required; must possess a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information
