PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SoBRO is seeking an experienced ABE/HSE Instructor to teach 12-15 hours per week (Monday-Friday 9:00am-12:00pm). The ABE course is designed with the goal of educating those functioning at low to intermediate literacy levels to assist them in increasing their educational attainment so they can go on to receive their HSE, pursue higher education, find and retain employment to reach self-sufficiency. Provide ABE instruction to young adult students, ages 16 & up, to help them obtain the necessary skills to be able to reach, write and computer proficiently in preparation for the HSE exam. Instruct in the program in a manner that supports student retention and daily attendance consistent with the Adult Learning Standards while assisting students in meeting educational goals.

Sensitivity and awareness to different cultures;
Proficient Microsoft Office Suite computer knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred;
Current NYS teacher certification; Familiar with current TABE exam;
A minimum of two years of successful experience teaching young adults;
Bilingual Spanish speaking strongly preferred.
