Part Time Pre-HE / HSE Instructor Position
Future now helps to empower out-of-school and formerly incarcerated youth by assisting them with earning their high school credentials, transitioning into post-secondary education, and graduating college in a timely manner. Future Now seeks to ensure students become self-sufficient leaders and role models for future cohorts of students, their families, and their communities.
Under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of the Future Now Program, the HSE Instructor will provide Pre- HSE and HSE Instruction. Classes are held Monday - Thursdays from 9:30am– 1:30pm, beginning on July 1, 2019.
Responsibilities include:
Deliver effective instruction in all subject areas: reading, writing, social studies, science, and math, helping to prepare students for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC)
Create a student-centered, engaging learning environment, as required by CUNY
Assess student progress and provide feedback
Administer TABE and TASC Readiness exams
Maintain attendance records and communicate with office and counselors on student absences and/or issues
Attend weekly staff meetings and attend Professional Development
Qualifications:
BA or BS in education or related field
Minimum two years related teaching experience, preferably in grant-funded literacy programs
Experience creating thematic, content-based curricula
Ability to integrate technology into lessons
Working knowledge of the TASC, TABE Assessment, and TASC Readiness Assessment
Excellent interpersonal, writing and oral communication skills
